News release
The Canyon Theatre Guild opens Frederick Knott’s thriller “Dial M for Murder” on Saturday, and the opening night’s performance will feature a free wine and champagne reception for ticket holders one hour before curtain.
“Frederick Knott’s dialogue is a masterpiece of suspense, and our incredible cast delivers every beat with razor-sharp intensity,” Director Linda Thompspon said in a news release from the nonprofit theater group. “Watching this talented ensemble navigate the cat-and-mouse mind games is pure theatrical magic. Audiences can expect an edge-of-your-seat, pulse-pounding thriller filled with deception, unexpected twists, and an atmosphere so thick with tension you’ll be holding your breath until the very last clue clicks into place.”
Premiering first at the Westminster Theatre in London 1952 and later adapted on film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1954 starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly, “Dial M for Murder” continues to impress, the release said.
Tony Wendice married his wife Margot for her money; now he plans to murder her for it. However, on the night of the planned attack, the plan goes awry and Margot manages to kill her attacker. Tony soon sees the hitman’s death as an opportunity to have his wife convicted of murder. Can he frame Margot for his twisted crime before Margot and a Scotland Yard inspector reveal his deceit?
