News release

Cub Scouts from Pack 527 recently spent their early Saturday morning volunteering alongside their parents with The Children’s Hunger Project, preparing clothing items to be shipped to individuals and families living in extreme poverty around the world.

Under the leadership of Cubmaster Danielle Reeves, Scouts and their parents worked together to sort and prepare clothing for shipment, demonstrating teamwork, compassion, and a strong commitment to helping others, said a news release from the pack.

The project gave Scouts a hands-on opportunity to learn about global need while seeing how local acts of service can make a meaningful difference far beyond their own community, the release said.

“As a parent of two Cub Scouts in different dens, I was incredibly proud to see our children and their fellow Scouts working so enthusiastically,” Kari McCoy, parent with Pack 527, said in the release. “Service projects like this show our children that they are never too young to make an impact. They learn compassion by doing, and they begin to understand that community service is not just about helping locally, but also about recognizing our connection to people around the world.”
