Mental Health Hookup is holding its fifth annual Stop the Stigma event on Saturday at the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital campus, located at 23803 McBean Parkway, Valencia,.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mental Health Hookup hosts this annual community event to raise awareness about accessible and low-cost mental health services in the Santa Clarita Valley and to help promote the acceptance of mental illness, said a news release from the nonprofit organization.

“The purpose of this event is to raise the public’s awareness of the services provided and available to adults with mental illness here in the Santa Clarita Valley. We seek to promote community acceptance and support of our SCV families dealing with mental health issues and to stop the stigma of mental illness as it affects our children as they age out,” said a release from the group.

Founded in 2018, Mental Health Hookup is a private, nonprofit organization with a mission to assist families with family members who have mental illness in locating appropriate resources to develop programs for their loved ones.

The event is free and attendees can visit over 18 organizations offering their support and services, and engage with a panel of experts and speakers who will share their lived experiences. Snacks will be available and the event will feature live music and a supportive atmosphere, the release said.
