News release

In preparation for 2027-28 applications, Academy of the Canyons is holding Parent Information Nights on Nov. 4, 5 and 10.

Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School is a small, alternative high school (grades 9-12) of choice that is part of the William S. Hart Union High School District and located on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons.

For the past 25 years, AOC has offered a personalized, supportive learning experience for academically driven students who take both high school and college classes to meet their educational goals, said a news release from the district.

Starting in ninth grade, students take COC courses and AOC honors high school classes — giving them the opportunity to explore their future through a wide range of college subjects while still in high school. COC tuition is waived for California residents, and many students earn transferable college credit or even an associate degree at little to no cost.

Admission is open to any student living within the boundaries of the William S. Hart Union High School District. Each fall, a new class is admitted through an application and lottery process that begins in November. Attendance at an Information Night is a required step in the application process.

Incoming ninth grade-only, mandatory in-person information nights are being held 6-8 p.m. Nov. 4 or 5. To sign up, go to forms.gle/4eXiDTcYt5DFmepo6. The meetings are to be held at the COC University Center, 26455 North Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia.

The incoming 10th and 11th grade mandatory in-person information night is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Nov. 10, also at the University Center. To sign up, go to forms.gle/upXrH91fpa2ffGiV7.
