Foothill girls hoops roundup: Vikes, Indians, Cowboys win big

Valencia High varsity girls basketball made a statement on the first night of Foothill League play Tuesday at home.

The four-time defending league champions beat West Ranch, 81-5, behind 26 points from Kayla Konrad. Kenadee Honaker added 18 points for Valencia (14-4 overall, 1-0 in Foothill).

West Ranch fell to 5-13 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
Ashlee Ane had 11 points for Valencia.

Valencia hosts Golden Valley on Friday. West Ranch will host Saugus.

Canyon 80, Golden Valley 40

Rachel Bowers led the Cowboys (10-7, 1-0) with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks, while teammate Daisy Cardenas scored 20 points.

Canyons’ Talia Taufaasau scored 18 points, and Alaina Garcia had seven points.

Serene Tyus scored 15 points for Golden Valley (8-9, 0-1). Grizzly Sage Peterson-Henry scored seven points.
Golden Valley plays at Valencia on Friday. Canyon plays at Hart.

Hart 60, Saugus 41

Annie Christofferson scored 15 points for the Indians (6-10, 1-0). The leading scorer for Saugus (8-11, 0-1) was not immediately available.

Christofferson transferred from West Ranch, where she was the Cats’ leading scorer, to Hart before this season and had to sit out until early January due to CIF transfer rules.
