Members Only jackets, shoulder pads, parachute pants and fingerless gloves are making a comeback – for one night at least. Things are going to get “like totally radical” at the SENSES Block Party tomorrow night in Old Town Newhall. Drive your DeLorean or 1985 Camaro IROC-Z down to Main Street and join us from 7-10 p.m. for a Flashback to the ‘80s. The monthly SENSES Block Party is presented by Galpin Subaru and is part of the City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series.

Whether you were a regular in the ‘80s club scene, love listening to music from the decade or were born just early enough to be called an ‘80s Baby, this party is meant for you. Personally, I hope I hear MC Hammer blasting on the stereo when I get there!

This SENSES is going to have a little bit of everything. Stop by our arcade to get in a game of Pac Man and bust a move on our dance floor with Past Action Heroes, one of the best ‘80s cover bands anywhere. Walk Like an Egyptian down Main Street and relive all your Glory Days with decorations and activities that will have you seeing neon for weeks to come. You Just Can’t Get Enough.

If you find yourself Hungry Like the Wolf, be sure to grab a bite to eat from any of the great restaurants in the area. We know that Girls Just Want to Have Fun, so stop by after dinner and get a drink from the on-street bar hosted by El Trocadero. Don’t Stop Believing that this is going to be a night you will never forget.

If hanging out with your friends is more your scene, Walk this Way to our Galpin Lounge and show off your style with an impromptu photo shoot. Our ‘80s costume contest will also take place With or Without You so Jump on into the fray and see if you have what it takes to be crowned the winner.

In honor of the City’s 30th birthday, we’re inviting residents of all ages to join in on a special dance flash mob on the SENSES dance floor. A flash mob is when a group of strangers meet to perform in front of a live, unsuspecting audience. Participants will meet in front of the stage at 8:15 p.m. and start the dance as soon as our chosen song begins to play. The dance will be mostly freestyle with choreography during the chorus.

To help you learn the dance, we’ll be posting a YouTube tutorial on our Santa Clarita YouTube account. For more details of the event, please visit the Santa Clarita Dance Flash Mob event page on Facebook.

The flash mob is one of the things I am looking forward to the most because it allows all our residents to be a part of the City’s year-long birthday celebration. At the end of the year we are going to compile footage we’ve taken throughout the year and put out the video on social media. Make sure you are following the City’s accounts.

I can’t even begin to explain how awesome Flashback to the ‘80s is going to be at SENSES tomorrow so you’ll have to see for yourself. Just be sure to Wake Me Up before You Go-Go!
