La Mesa Junior High School recently hosted its 13th annual swing dance competition. This long-standing tradition, led by Alex Suarez and Alex Dunwoody, is the grand finale of the eighth-grade physical education dance module. It brought 14 student pairs to the floor to compete for the championship trophy. The gym was packed, and emcee Cesar Noboa and the La Mesa jazz band kept the energy high. After the opening round, judges Nicole Arteaga, Desiree Love, Jessica Dabbeekeh and Alison Bertola narrowed the field down to six final pairs. While every student brought their A-game, Camille Tabucbuc and Amy Raydan ultimately danced their way to first place. Photos courtesy of the William S. Hart Union High School District.
