Valencia girls’ basketball player Keira McLaughlin has been nominated for the Sports Illustrated National Girls Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 29 to Jan. 4.
Each week during the high school sports season, Sports Illustrated highlights the best players in the nation who have standout performances.
As for McLaughlin, the junior forward came close to a triple-double in the team’s win over Esperanza in the Matt Denning Nike Hoops Classic hosted by Mater Dei High School with a stat line of 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
