Foothill League boys’ and girls’ soccer roundup

Wednesday is the final day of the boys’ and girls’ soccer regular season and after Monday’s results, it’s set to feature matches that not only hold playoff implications but also who wins the Foothill League championships.  

Here are the scores from Monday around the Foothill League in boys’ and girls’ soccer:  

Boys’ soccer 

Valencia 1, Canyon 0: The Valencia Vikings (11-4-2, 9-2) secured the road win over the Cowboys (3-13-4, 1-7-3) at Canyon High School.  

With the win, the Vikings remain in first place in the Foothill League standings with the opportunity to clinch the championship outright with a road win on Wednesday over the Golden Valley Grizzlies.  

As for Canyon, the loss drops the Cowboys to sixth place with a 1-7-3 league record and they will look to bounce back with a home match against the Castaic Coyotes.  

Both games kick off at 5 p.m.  

Saugus 2, Golden Valley 1: The Centurions (11-5-2, 9-2-1) keep their Foothill League title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over the Grizzlies (8-7-1, 5-5-1).  

The Centurions, who are in second place in the standings, are going to need some help to win the league title with a Valencia loss as they do not play Wednesday after playing their final match Monday.  

As for Golden Valley, the Grizzlies will look to remain in playoff contention as they hold fourth place in the league standings and host the Vikings on Wednesday at 5 p.m.  

Hart 5, Castaic 0: The Hawks (7-4-4, 5-3-3) hold third place in the league standings after a big win over the Castaic Coyotes (0-13-2, 0-10-1).  

The Hawks will look to finish the year out strong with a home match against the visiting West Ranch Wildcats, who are in fifth place with a 4-4-3 league record.  

The Coyotes will look to finish the year strong with a road matchup against the Cowboys, with both games set to begin at 5 p.m.  

Girls’ soccer  

Canyon 3, Valencia 1: The Canyon Cowboys (6-11-1, 3-8), who are in sixth place in the Foothill League standings, bagged the win over the Valencia Vikings (7-6-3, 4-4-3).  

The Cowboys play their final match of the season on the road Wednesday against the Castaic Coyotes while the Vikings, who are in fourth place, look to finish the year strong with a win at home against the Golden Valley Grizzlies.  

Both games kick off at 5 p.m.  

Saugus 6, Golden Valley 0: The Lady Centurions (13-4-3, 10-1-1) scored six goals en route to the team’s win over Golden Valley (1-21-2, 0-11).  

The Lady Centurions remain in second place and played their final match while the Grizzlies, who are in seventh place in the standings, finish the season against the Valencia Vikings at 5 p.m.  

Hart 4, Castaic 1: The Lady Hawks (11-7-2, 9-0-2) could win the Foothill League title Wednesday after a win over the Coyotes (5-8, 4-7) Monday.  

The Lady Hawks, who hold first place, will look to win the championship with a home matchup against the West Ranch Wildcats with kick-off scheduled for 5 p.m.  

As for Castaic, the Coyotes sit in fifth place in the standings and play their final game of the regular season at home Wednesday against the visiting Canyon Cowboys at 5 p.m.
