Girls’ lacrosse roundup: Saugus defeats Hart, West Ranch beats Valencia

The Saugus Centurions took sole possession of second place in the Foothill League girls lacrosse standings after a 17-6 win over the Hart Hawks on Wednesday.  

The Centurions (10-1, 1-1) secured their 10th win of the season and have won their last three games in a row after a 21-12 loss to the West Ranch Wildcats in the league’sseason opener.  

Saugus plays its next Foothill League match on Wednesday at home against the Valencia Vikings with the game set to begin at 5 p.m.  

As for Hart, the Hawks remain in third place in the Foothill League standings and are 5-6 overall following the loss to Saugus.  

The Hawks dropped their second game in a row after defeating the Valencia Vikings, 7-6, in the league season opener.  

Hart plays its next league match against the Wildcats at home on Wednesday with the game set to begin at 3 p.m. 

After Wednesday’s games, here are scores from around the Foothill League:  

West Ranch 17, Valencia 8: The West Ranch Wildcats (9-0, 2-0) defeated the Valencia Vikings at home and improved to 2-0 in league play.  

The Wildcats, who are ranked as the eighth best team in the national rankings, according to MaxPreps, picked up their ninth overall win of the year to remain unbeaten.  

In the league’s opener, the Wildcats defeated the Centurions, 21-12, and play their next league game against the Hawks at Hart High School with the game set to begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday. 

The loss leaves the Vikings winless in league play but they are 6-5 overall.
