The Canyon boys’ volleyball team secured their seventh Foothill League win of the season after a four-set victory, 20-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22, over the West Ranch Wildcats on Monday.
The Cowboys (23-10, 7-4) hold firm of the third spot in the Foothill League standings and remain one game behind the second-place Saugus Centurions.
With the Foothill League granting four automatic qualifiers into the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs, the Cowboys have clinched their bid into the postseason with one more league game remaining.
The Wildcats (7-17, 3-8) are on the outside looking in at fifth place as the Castaic Coyotes hold the fourth spot and final automatic qualifier.
The Wildcats will look to end the regular season with a win on Wednesday on the road at Valencia High School against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m.
The Cowboys will look to build upon their momentum going into the playoffs on Wednesday with a road matchup against the Hart Hawks with first serve set for 5:30 p.m.
After Monday’s games, here are scores from around the Foothill League
Saugus 3, Hart 0: The Saugus Centurions (23-10, 8-3) evened the season series over the Hart Hawks (9-14, 3-8) following a straight-set sweep on Monday.
The Centurions remain in second place in the Foothill League standings and hold a one-game lead over Canyon.
Saugus will look to end the regular season on Wednesday with another win in a home matchup against Castaic at 5:30 p.m.
The loss dropped the Hawks to fifth place in the standings, tied with the Wildcats.
The Hawks will look to climb up the standings with a win on Wednesday at home over Canyon at 5:30 p.m.
Valencia 3, Golden Valley 1: With the Foothill League title wrapped up, the Vikings (21-7, 11-0) secured a win on Monday over the Grizzlies (5-19, 2-10).
The Vikings will have the opportunity to go perfect in league play on Wednesday with a home match against the visiting West Ranch Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.
The loss dropped the Grizzlies to seventh place in the standings with a 2-10 record and they ended their season with a 5-19 overall record.
