News release

The city of Santa Clarita invites residents and visitors of all ages to step into a galaxy far, far away at “May the 4th Be With You,” scheduled 6-10 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Central Park.

Set against the backdrop of Central Park’s River of Lights, this free, family-friendly celebration will bring the community together for an evening filled with themed activities, entertainment and a special outdoor movie experience, said a news release from the city.

The night will kick off with a live performance by the Saugus High School Band and Color Guard. All 200 lights of the River of Lights will illuminate the night with a show that will transport you out of this world just in time for a special screening of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,” beginning at 7:45 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax under the stars and enjoy the film with family, friends and fellow fans. Food trucks offering savory and sweet options will be on-site.

Throughout the event, guests can enjoy a variety of interactive activities for all ages, including a parkour obstacle course, lightsaber battle zone with complimentary pool-noodle lightsabers available for the first 200 guests and field games such as volleyball, soccer and cornhole.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars characters. Special appearances from beloved galactic icons may occur throughout the evening.
