After the second round of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section boys’ tennis playoffs, three teams advanced to the quarterfinals as Golden Valley, Saugus and Valencia won in their respective matchups on Friday.
Here are the scores from Friday’s second round:
Golden Valley 11, La Mirada 7: The Grizzlies, who ended the season in third place in the Foothill League standings, remain alive in the Division 5 playoffs following a road win over La Mirada.
The Grizzlies, who secured the narrow win for the second straight match in the playoffs, will be at home for the quarterfinals after back-to-back road matchups.
In the quarterfinals, the Grizzlies are set to welcome the San Marcos Royals of Santa Barbara, who advanced after a 12-6 win over Temple City.
The contest between the Grizzlies and Royals is set to begin 3 p.m. on Monday at Golden Valley High School.
Valencia 10, Flintridge Prep 8: After a first-round win at home, the Vikings were on the road for their second-round matchup in the Division 5 playoffs.
In the second-round, the Vikings secured a narrow road win over the Flintridge Prep Wolves of La Cañada
The Vikings advanced to the quarterfinals with the win but will be on the road for the second-straight playoff game in a matchup against the La Serna Lancers of Whittier.
The matchup between the Lancers and Vikings is scheduled to begin at 3p.m. on Monday at La Serna High School in Whittier.
Saugus 13, Coachella Valley 5: The Centurions, who took home a road win in the first round, followed up their performance with a big victory at home over the Coachella Valley Arabs in Division 7.
In the win, the Centurions’ doubles side came up big with sweeps in the first and third rounds to win 8-1 total.
With the win, the Centurions are set to remain at Saugus High School on Monday and welcome the Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Panthers.
The matchup between the Centurions and Panthers is scheduled to begin Monday at Saugus High School with first serve set for 10 a.m.
