Saugus High School has named Chris Spann as the new head coach for the girls’ basketball team following the departure of Anthony Falasca, according to a statement sent to The Signal.

Spann, who was the head coach for the girls’ basketball team at Lakeview Charter High School in Sylmar from 2023 to 2026, led the Lions to a North Valley League title in 2024 and 2025.

In the 2025-26 season, Spann ended his tenure with the Lions having compiled a 12-12 overall record and berth into the Los Angeles City Section playoffs.

“Coach Spann brings over 25 years of coaching experience and is known for being a hard-working, loyal, and dedicated leader,” the statement reads.

Spann takes over at the helm of the Saugus girls’ basketball program after the departure of Falasca, who spent the previous four seasons with the Centurions.

The Centurions ended the 2025-26 season as finalists in the Division 2 California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section championship and the SoCal state regional.

“We are incredibly excited about the leadership, experience and energy coach Spann will bring to our program,” the statement reads. “We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our student-athletes and the continued growth of girls basketball here at Saugus.”
