The California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section released its softball playoff pairings over the weekend, and five local programs from across the Santa Clarita Valley are set to begin their playoff journey in the first round with competition set to begin Thursday.
Here’s a look at the first-round matchups:
Saugus vs. Brea Olinda
The Centurions, who enter this year’s playoffs on the heels of winning the program’s 15th Foothill League title, begin their playoff push with lots of momentum in the Division 2 bracket.
For the first round, the Centurions are set to host the visiting Brea Olinda Wildcats, who ended the season 15-12 overall.
After a first-round loss last season, the Centurions will look to begin their postseason race with a win and have all the momentum on their side after ending the 2026 season winning eight out of their last 10.
The contest between the Centurions and Wildcats begins on Thursday at Saugus High School with first pitch scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
West Ranch vs. Trabuco Hills
After a second-place finish in the Foothill League standings, the Wildcats enter the playoffs in the Division 3 championships looking to finish the job following a walk-off loss in last year’s Division 5 CIF title game.
This season, the Wildcats are set to begin their playoff journey at home with a first-round matchup against the Trabuco Hills Mustangs of Mission Viejo.
Trabuco Hills, which ended its season as champions of the Sea View League, will be a tough matchup for the Cats as the Mustangs won their last four games.
The matchup between the Mustangs and the Wildcats is scheduled for Friday at West Ranch High School with first pitch scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
Hart at Burroughs
The Hawks, who ended the season with an 8-6 win over the Burroughs Bears of Burbank at home, will hit the road for a first-round contest against the same Bears in the Division 4 playoffs.
It will be just eight days between the games, with the latest matchup being a road contest for Hart as the Hawks are set to travel down to Burbank.
The matchup between the Bears and Hawks is scheduled for Thursday with first pitch set for 3:15 p.m.
Valencia at St. Bonaventure
The Vikings, who ended the season in fourth in the Foothill League standings, will hit the road in the first round and face the top-seeded St. Bonaventure Seraphs of Ventura in the Division 4 playoffs.
