Plus, scores from around the Foothill League in girls’ volleyball
Despite a straight-set loss to West Ranch on Tuesday, the Castaic Coyotes bounced back quickly with a four-set, 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, road win over the Hart Hawks on Thursday and remained above .500 in Foothill League play with a 5-4 record.
With Thursday’s win, the Coyotes (15-11, 5-4) remained tied for third place in the girls’ volleyball Foothill League standings along with the Valencia Vikings.
With the Foothill League awarding the top four in the standings with playoff bids to the playoffs, the Coyotes kept their playoff chances alive.
The Coyotes will look to keep up their winning momentum on Tuesday at Castaic High School in a matchup against the Canyon Cowboys with first serve set for 5 p.m.
As for Hart (5-17-2, 1-8), the Hawks dropped their eighth Foothill League game of the season and sit in sixth place in the standings.
The Hawks will look to grab their second win with a home matchup against the Golden Valley Grizzlies at Hart High School on Tuesday with first serve set for 5 p.m.
After Thursday’s games, here are scores from around the Foothill League:
Saugus 3, Valencia 0: Following a straight-set win, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21, over the Valencia Vikings on Thursday, the Saugus Centurions improved their Foothill League record to 8-1 in the season.
With the win, the Centurions (27-8-1, 8-1) remain in second place in the girls’ volleyball standings. The Centurions will look to keep up their winning momentum with a road matchup against the Wildcats on Tuesday at West Ranch High School at 5 p.m.
As for Valencia (14-12, 5-4), the loss dropped the Vikings to a 5-4 record and tied for third in the Foothill League standings alongside Castaic in third place.
The Vikings will look to bounce back on Thursday at Valencia High School against the Castaic Coyotes at 5 p.m.
West Ranch 3, Golden Valley 0: Following a straight-set win, 25-9, 25-17, 25-13, over Golden Valley Grizzlies, the West Ranch Wildcats are winners of their last eight games.
With the win, the Wildcats (13-5, 9-0) remain in first place in the Foothill League standings with a 9-0 record. The Wildcats will look to continue their winning streak with a matchup against the Saugus Centurions on Tuesday at West Ranch High School at 5 p.m.
As for Golden Valley, the loss dropped the Grizzlies (6-21-4, 0-9) for their 21st loss of the season and remained winless in Foothill League play.
The Grizzlies will look to grab their first win on Tuesday at Hart High School against the Hawks at 5 p.m.
