In one of his letters many, many moons ago, Christopher Lucero took credit for starting what is now known as the Wakefield Winter Wonderland. It’s the Christmas display extravaganza that attracts thousands of people every year to Wakefield Court, just off Copperhill Drive. It boasts a spectacular collection of lighting and props rivaling even Disneyland’s Electric Light Parade, not to mention traffic congestion (to the extent) that the Sheriff’s Department is often called in to keep things as safe as possible. There are pros and cons with everything.
Well, it seems that Mr. Lucero and I actually have something in common. Estrella Vista is the community right across from Wakefield, up Agajanian Drive. That’s where my family and I have lived since the place was build back in 2003. I started our neighborhood’s version of Wakefield’s Christmas display, but ours celebrates Halloween, and on that dark and spooky night we attract as many visitors as does Wakefield. I started simple back in 2003, but over the years we’ve had some major developments. We now boast three haunted houses (my own included), and one of them is even on Google Maps. It’s called Pumpkin Jack’s Haunted House. Realtors even use it as a selling point. You may bring the cheer, Mr. Lucero, but we bring the fear. Happy holidays!
