In a letter to the editor on Sept. 17, someone asks for examples of right wing violence on Democrats.
(A chart) from the Cato Institute shows that since 1975 there have been six times as many violent right-wing attacks on Democrats than the other way around.
Here are just four examples:
1. Right winger attacks husband of Nancy Pelosi Oct. 28, 2022.
2. Democrat Melissa Hortman killed by right winger June 14, 2025.
3. Pro-Trump rioters scream “Kill Mike Pence” and erect a guillotine, Jan. 6, 2021.
4. A Donald Trump supporter shot Judge Esther Salas’ son, July 19, 2020.
I could go on, but I’m hoping your readers are able to find many other examples of right-wing violence for themselves. It’s not hard at all to do so.
