Larry Moore’s letter (Nov. 4) paints protesters as “out of touch,” while glorifying Donald Trump as a peacemaker. That’s an astonishing rewrite of reality.
Let’s start with “peace.” Trump’s presidency saw escalating tensions with allies, reckless praise for dictators, and domestic chaos that divided Americans more than at any point in modern memory. He didn’t bring peace, he brought division, disinformation, and a constant erosion of democratic norms.
As for the protesters, they’re exercising the very freedom this country was founded on, the same freedom Mr. Moore celebrates in his “newsflash” timeline. Protest is not hate; it’s patriotism in action. People protest because they care about the direction of their country and believe it can live up to its ideals.
Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t the problem — blind devotion to a man who undermines truth, justice and decency is.
So no, the rally wasn’t “50 years too late.” It was right on time — because America still needs citizens willing to stand up to corruption, lies and authoritarian behavior in any era.
