Nancy Neill | An Inappropriate Location

As a mother and grandmother, I want to thank you for alerting us to the proposed McBean Parkway location of the new L.A. County courthouse. The proposed size and location in the middle of our busiest and most congested part of Valencia makes little sense. Santa Clarita is near the northernmost part of the county, and it will already take time in traffic to get here, and entering our most congested mile will not be helpful for those the building will serve.

If the city of Santa Clarita has proposed an alternate site on Golden Valley Road, among others (we already have relocated our main sheriff’s station there), that would be much better.

I would invite anyone involved in making this decision, especially members of the Judicial Council of California, to come out and visit both the Golden Valley proposed site and the McBean Parkway site, and see which looks more appropriate. I even wonder whether there may be a site in Sylmar, for example, which would be more centrally located.

Everyone who is able, please keep up every effort to choose the best Santa Clarita location for our new courthouse, not in the middle of the Valencia Town Center district.
