I can see the eye rolls out there in Signal land after you read the title of my letter. But let us review what was promised.
If you like you doctor, you can keep him/her. False! If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. False! Every family will save on average $2,500 a year. False! Obamacare will bend the cost curve. Laughably false! Obamacare will reduce emergency room visits. False! Obamacare will help reduce the yearly deficit and national debt by $4 trillion. Hilariously false!
Obamacare will reduce the inefficiencies in Medicare and Medicaid so much that it will pay for itself. Spitting coffee out of my nose. False!
I realize so many of you are so married to the lies of this folly that you would never admit you were duped. Nobody likes being played the fool so I can’t say I blame you very much. Even worse, if you did admit you were duped that means you also have to admit that those of us on the other side, me for example, were correct the whole time. That would be even worse that admitting you were wrong.
So now we have a health insurance premium crisis brewing, again, for a plan that failed spectacularly. The only way to “save” it is by throwing more government dollars at the problem, which of course will make the problem worse. I’ve often seen how those of you who were duped complain about our lack of plan. This again is false. Our plan is simple. It involves eliminating Obamacare, allow the consumer to shop for his/her own plan across state lines, and provide those people who are in genuine need a subsidy for a low-cost plan. Most importantly, make prices transparent and give the consumer the ability to comparison shop and set it up so people have an incentive to shop for better value instead of not caring how much it is or who pays.
You may not like my plan but after so many years of your plan failing you should sit this one out. Government intervention is making the situation worse, as it always does. See education and housing as other examples of government failing to do as it promised and in fact making the problems much worse.
