Diane Zimmerman | Does This Term Apply to You?

On this day, Nov. 15, I was enjoying a drive back from Glendale. It was pouring rain. I was listening to music and enjoying every moment. Ben was on the seat beside me. Everyone was driving pretty “safely,” not too slow, not too fast, keeping a safe distance. You know, the “common sense” kind of stuff you shouldn’t need a law for. I glanced in my rearview mirror and saw a person driving a sports car, weaving through traffic at high speed. I will refrain from describing the vehicle. It’s the driver not the car. Sort of like, “It’s the shooter not the gun.”

Anyway, I yelled out “jack wad!” after he cut in front of me and came within a couple inches of my front fender. Only Ben heard me but it made me feel better to say it. Then I wondered where the heck that came from? I knew I must have heard it somewhere. In a flash I remembered who I heard it from and smiled “up” at him. He still has the ability to get me out of a bad mood by just popping into my mind with that certain look I only get from Ben now.

I found these two definitions online in the Urban Dictionary:

“Same as calling someone a jackass. But people won’t hear the ass. So you get away without the curse. Yet it’s worse than a jackass. Mostly because of the hidden inside joke. A very small amount of people know this meaning.”

“The term ‘jack wad’ is used to describe an uneducated, moronic … (person) with absolutely no regard for any other person. This term is mostly used to describe a lawbreaker or other lowlife drain on society.”

The above may not be of interest to you. If you read this far, you are not a “jack wad,” at least not at the moment.

Lots of love to most of you. My prayer for each of you is that you try not to get that term applied to you.

Ben feels as I do. For those of you who don’t know, Ben is the little guy I walk on a leash three to four times per day. Have to obey the laws until we can change or modify them.
