When are the residents of Santa Clarita going to wake up and actually start paying attention to what is happening in our City Council?
The continuous, blatant and unapologetic violations of the Brown Act by council members Laurene Weste, Bill Miranda and Patsy Ayala shock the conscience. Anyone paying an ounce of attention knows that the gang of three discussed, in advance of the Dec. 9 meeting, the appointment of Patsy Ayala as the mayor pro tem.
The undisputed evidence? As reported by The Signal, Miranda provided a written statement to the press as to why he didn’t vote for McLean like he promised from the dais to do in December 2024.
Miranda failing to keep his public promise to Marsha Mclean on his last day of mayor is one thing. But having a prepared written statement ready to hand the press is proof positive that he already knew in advance that the vote was going to go in Ayala’s favor.
Anyone present at the hearing could see it.
If he didn’t know how the vote was going to go, he wouldn’t have had a pre-prepared written statement. It’s that simple.
This isn’t the first time Miranda, Weste and Ayala have violated the Brown Act. There have been several instances over this past year. The voters of Santa Clarita are sick of this gamesmanship and constant back-door shadow maneuvering. Or they should be.
