Wrong is wrong!

As you all know, I’m not at all shy about calling out bad behavior from the left. But if we’re reasonable we should call out bad behavior on both sides. Well, today is that day for me.

There is a senator from Montana named Steve Daines. I don’t know much about him but from what little I do know he seems OK. At 5 p.m. local time March 4 was the deadline to file with the Montana Secretary of State an intention to run for the Senate in Montana this upcoming election. Given that it is Montana, which is reliably red and given that Daines is an incumbent, one would think that the line of people lining up to run against him would be somewhere around zero.

Yet at 4:52 p.m. local time one Kurt Alme, United States attorney, did that very thing and filed paperwork to run as a Republican for the Senate, eight minutes before the deadline. Shortly after the deadline passed, Sen. Daines announced his retirement and gave Alme his endorsement. Now I have no idea who Alme is and he may be the greatest Republican ever, but this is scummy behavior depriving the people of Montana the ability to choose who should succeed Daines had Daines announced his retirement sooner. This is the kind of garbage that happens in politics that we should all denounce and denounce strongly!

It would be nice to see those contributors on the left that submit letters here occasionally criticizing their side from time to time. It certainly is a target-rich environment. I won’t hold my breath, though.
