As was reported by The Signal, veterans in California are now going to be protected under legislation that was passed by both houses and signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
This is in large part due to the tireless efforts by our state Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo and also greatly supported and voted for by our state Sen. Suzette Martinez Valladares — one a liberal Democrat and the other a conservative Rrepublican.
I am close friends with both of these incredible ladies and I only point out their often diametrically opposed political views to point out how government is supposed to work where people from opposite sides can put their differences aside and come together to get things done.
I worked on Mike Garcia’s congressional campaign and one of the many things I always admired about Mike was that he very openly stated that he would work with ANYONE to get things done no matter their political leanings.
This country has become so polarized and divisive on both sides that I am truly afraid we may never get back to a government working FOR the people and not just AGAINST the other side. I hope I am wrong!
