Re: Inadequate community notification for weakening of the oak ordinance.
The city of Santa Clarita is proposing to change our beloved oak ordinance to make it easier to destroy oaks in residential neighborhoods, but no one even knows about it.
Why did the city not elicit thorough public input on such an important change before introducing this ordinance? Was it because the city doesn’t really want to hear from the public?
The first reading of the ordinance on March 10 is too late for meaningful discussion.
All anyone can do is oppose this change, and I hope they will.
