Larry Moore | What Kings This Time?

Driving by the 64th No Kings rally yesterday, I saw the same old worn- out hippies carrying the same old worn-out signs. Talk about another futile, inept gesture. What has happened since the last time these holier-than-thou, Vietnam-era relics tried to block the intersection of Valencia and McBean? It got me thinking. Do these probably intelligent people know that the last king to meddle in our nation’s affairs was King George III some 250 years ago? Newsflash! He is no longer with us. Another idea came to mind. Easter Sunday was only a week away. Maybe this assembled lunatic throng were all atheists. Maybe they didn’t want to acknowledge the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. But that would be low, even for this group.

Giving my neighbors the benefit of the doubt: Maybe these misguided people are all former Sacramento Kings basketball fans upset with their anemic 19-56 record. They have a right to be upset. The Kings have been a doormat in the NBA’s Western Division for years. Plus, their hometown, Sacramento, is just a wide spot on Interstate 5 where Democrat politicians gather to ruin our state. That has got to be the answer. How can I blame you for protesting that?
