In response to President Donald Trump sending Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to help beleaguered Transportation Security Administration agents at airports, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries both said ICE officers will brutalize and kill people at airports.

Who are these people? Are they high on some weird Democrat drug? ICE officers have way more training than TSA agents. They are an ideal group to help keep airports secure and the lines moving efficiently. If I saw ICE officers at Burbank Airport or LAX, I would walk up to them, shake their hands, and say, “Thanks for keeping our country safe.”

The first time our family traveled to Rome, there were soldiers all over Leonardo da Vinci Airport carrying automatic weapons. I didn’t feel intimidated or uneasy. I felt safe. It is sad that such drastic measures are needed, but we live in an unsafe world. To all those who risk their lives to keep us safe, I say, “Thank you.”

I would be remiss if I didn’t comment on Gary Horton’s column (March 25) about his friend suggesting we nuke Iran. Lighten up, Gary. When Kevin McHale tackled Kurt Rambis from behind in game 4 of the 1984 NBA finals, my first reaction was, “Nuke the Celtics!” Maybe just a small nuke on their team bus. But later I calmed down and rejoiced when the Lakers won the 1985 NBA championship over the poor-excuse-for-a-basketball-team Celtics.

That was revenge enough.
