In reference to your article on Jan. 26 regarding the abrupt closing of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry, there is cause for concern about the organizational practices of the business.

Let’s take the website as an example. On the website, they say they are transparent in their organizational practices. However, the last posted tax return documents are from 2018. The bylaws of the business are nowhere to be found and requests for such have gone unanswered. Board member meetings are not posted including agendas, minutes, dates, times, and location of board meetings. No information is posted regarding if or how much board members are compensated or how they are selected and their term of office. Their website has not been updated since 2024.

The Food Pantry serves a critical need in our community and needs the trust of the public to support its mission. Its mission will be hindered if these questions go unanswered and will further erode trust with the people of Santa Clarita.
